Shadows
by: Victoria and Arie

Grandpa began to pile the twigs and branches that had fallen from the storm. Kevin and Callie watched eagerly as the bonfire pile began to grow and get bigger. "Tonight we will be able to have a shadow party!" Callie said.
"Why, what is a shadow party?" asked Kevin, opening his eyes really wide.
"It is when you can make shadows in the light of the fire!"
That night the kids and Grandpa sat around the fire watching it dance in the night air.
Callie formed her hands together and held them up in the fire light.
"Look at Grandpa's truck door!" she squealed.
Everyone looked and saw a shadow rabbit hopping on the door.
Grandpa threw a some more wood onto the fire and Kevin tried to make a shape in the light. The children took turns making shadow puppets on the surface of Grandpa's truck.
"A dog," guessed Grandpa.
"A bird," guessed Callie.
As the fire burned out the sound of laughter and the joy of imagination filled the air as shadow friends made their appearance at the shadow party.
