A Prince's Love
by: Bethany and Christian

Once upon a time there was a little Prince named Hansel. He was in love with a beautiful princess from the kingdom on the other side of the Land of Palms. He had made a lovely blanket with flowers on it for her birthday and he wanted to give it to her. She was a very beautiful Princess, and her smile was as glorious and bright as her golden hair, that many in the kingdom said she got when the sun itself kissed her when she was born. Everyone in the kingdom loved her for she was a fair as her ivory skin and as kind as her ocean blue eyes.
"How will I present this blanket to the Princess?" the Prince asked.
"In a heart, your Highness!" said one of the Prince's adviser.
"Create a beautiful heart-shaped box and put it inside," said the other adviser.
"Put it inside the heart and tell her that the warmth from the blanket is the warmth you feel for her in your own heart!" said the court jester.
So the Prince decided to build a wooden heart out of the prettiest birch wood from the tallest tree in the kingdom. He wanted the box to be perfect for the Princess.
He took a large piece of wood to the woodcutter and asked him to carve a magnificent heart out of the wood. The Prince paid the man with a thousand gold coins.
"This is the most beautiful wooden box I have ever seen," thought the Prince, and he picked it up and examined it closely. He noticed that a sparkling crystal heart hung on a red velvet ribbon as a decorative closure for the box. When the box was fastened shut, the crystal heart would sit firmly inside a golden heart-shaped latch.
The Prince gave the woodcutter his bag of gold coins and got on his horse to ride to the kingdom where is beloved princess was celebrating her birthday.
The Prince rode for several hours and finally came to the large wooden draw bridge that lead to the Princess's castle. He had folded the blanket neatly inside the box and was thinking about the right words he'd say when her saw the princess.
As he rode inside the castle's courtyard, he saw the princess standing on a balcony watching him. The Prince smiled and got off of his horse. He stood below the princess and said, "My love, behold, I present to you my heart." The princess ran down the stairs and up to the prince, smiling and excited to see what he was holding.
When she saw the beautifully carved wooden box she felt her heart skip a beat. "It's wonderful!" she said. "My love, when I think of you, my heart fills with the warmth of a thousand suns. Your image is protected and cherished within my heart. So it is true with this gift I present to you." The Prince knelt down on one knee and presented the box to the princess. She opened the box and saw the beautiful flowered blanket that the prince had made and began to cry. "This is the most beautiful blanket I have even seen and you are the most wonderful man I have ever known," she said. He looked up at her and asked, "Will you be my queen?" "Yes," she smiled. And they lived happily ever after.
